A blunderbuss is a type of flintlock long gun with a shorter barrel than a musket. They are favoured by sailors, both bargemen and vinegaroons alike, as their shorter length makes them more handy in the closer confines of naval combat.
The crew of the Hogshead was armed with blunderbusses which they used against Brandenard musketeers at the Spindle. Kitchen wielded one during Europe's confrontation with Pater Pontiflex Maupin in front of Cloche Arde.
It is based on the real world blunderbuss.
