Lampsman 3rd Class Foistin Gall is a lamplighter who was one of Rossamünd Bookchild's fellow prentice-lighters at Winstermill, although they were not in the same quarto. He is the nephew of the lictor at Winstermill, Grizzelard Gall.

History[]

Despite coming from a family with a history of becoming lictors, Foistin did not display much inclination or aptitude for going into the family trade. His uncle Grizzelard, the resident lictor at Winstermill, used his position to help his nephew become a prentice-lighter.

Plot[]

Lamplighter[]

One day after the prentices returned from their vigil-day trip to Silvernook, Gall commented that a company of lesquins was unable to help a carriage that fell to a nicker attack a mile away.[1] After it was learned that the Lamplighter-Marshal had been served with a sis edisserum and had to leave Winstermill to respond to it with Podious Whympre stepping in as the Marshal-Subrogat, Gall remarked that the change of command might be for the better. This was overheard by Grindrod, a supporter of the Lamplighter-Marshal, who responded by issuing the imposition of pots-and-pans on Gall for the entire week beginning that day.[2]

It is not known if Foistin survived the Battle of Winstermill.

Trivia[]

His name may be derived from foisting, meaning introducing or inserting surreptitiously, a reference to his uncle's influence in helping him become a prentice-lighter.
