A franklock is a marksman who specializes in distance shooting with a long-rifle. Because the long-rifle is actually not a rifle in the true sense of the word, being a franklock is a highly specialized skill. They may use a sthenicon to augment their sight and can hit targets beyond the range of a standard musket.
In the table of ranks for Winstermill a franklock is ranked below a troubardier and above an Ambuscadier 1st Class.[1] Sebastipole, a leer, uses a long-rifle as a weapon but being a franklock is not his primary occupation.
Trivia[]
The term is combination of the words "frank" and "lock", suggestive of a franklock being sure to hit their target.
