Grettir was a famed Hagenard warrior of the time of the Volkammerung and the brother of One Freyr, the lover of Biargë, the most famous manikin of matter. He was also the nephew of Ulfe Pytr and Uthoedë.

He played a key role in his aunt Uthoedë's attempt to uncover the secret of Biargë's undying beauty, accompanying her to the rhubezhal's test. Here they captured Biargë and ransacked her home in an attempt to find the supposed potive that she used to keep herself eternally young. It is suggested that Grettir was injured during Biargë and One Freyr's escape and anguished at his brother's betrayal. However after the pair fled to the Illr even he dared not follow them.

Grettir is likely a reference to the Grettis saga, which is also known as Grettir's Saga, given that the Derelands is based on Nordic cultures.[1]
