Griffstutzig is one of the 14 tykehounds that was kept at Winstermill and was the best canignavor. Its name is derived from Gott for "dim-witted".
When the Herdebog Trought chased a butcher's van into the Bowels of Winstermill in early Pulvis HIR 1601,[1] the tykehounds were released after it when it fled into the Harrowmath. During the ensuing course Griffstutzig was severely injured by the crippled, but still deadly Trought.[2]

Its name is based on "begriffsstutzig", German for dense or slow.
