Honorius Ludius Grotius Swill was a surgeon and massacar who was closely allied with Podious Whympre, the Master-of-Clerks and eventual commander of Winstermill. Through his research, Swill deduced that Rossamünd Bookchild was a manikin. He presented this finding at the latter's court-martial, which ended up having severe implications for both Rossamünd and Europe. Swill's fabrication of gudgeons and Whympre's weakening of Winstermill contributed to the fortresses' fall during the Battle of Winstermill.

Appearance[]

A short, thin man, Swill nonetheless appeared to have a sense of style, sporting a meticulous moustache and always dressing impeccably.

Personality[]

Relationships[]

A close ally of Podious Whympre, this position enabled Swill to be favoured over the resident physician, his nominal superior Crispus.

Abilities[]

Despite his self-proclaimed skill as a surgeon, Swill was considered a 'quack' by the eminent Doctor Crispus and was similarly reviled by the lighters of Winstermill, becoming the subject of a short rhyme that alluded to him treating minor ailments by removing limbs and organs.

History[]

Swill was named after the empress dowager Honoria Ludia Grotinia, held to be a distant relative. He hails from the Considine and despite growing up in poverty, became a talented carver. He reached the attention of the surgeons in Sinster, allowing him to become the apprentice of the renowned Flaccus Fusander. Here he also became involved with the dark trades and gained some rivals and notoriety, having to depart the city under suspicious circumstances. Swill's activities had also become notable enough to gain the attention of the Soratchë.[1]
