A spurn is a lahzar or teratologist who acts as a bodyguard to an individual or an organisation. They are the opposite of a knave, who acts as a free agent and makes their services available to any paying client. A non-teratologist spurn is often called a harnessgarde.
Notable spurns include Anaesthesia Myrrh, Dolours, and the black-eyed wit. Pater Pontiflex Maupin was noted for his use of spurns, which included fistdukes.
