The Tutelarchs were an ancient people descended from Dido, founder of the Sceptic Empire. They suceeded the Attics as the dominant civilization of the Sundergird, spreading their rule far and wide, though not without suffering setbacks. At some point they were supplanted by the Tutins.
It was the Tutelarchs who dug the Marrow, though they probably did not begin it.

According to D. M. Cornish, "Tutelarch" loosely means "teacher-rulers". The "tut" portion of the word and the "in" portion from Latin were joined to create "Tutin".[1]
